It all started with Darren Randall and Dave Moulton. Darren and Dave started writing songs on their guitars sometime in the late 90's. Fuelled by alcohol and angst, they started recording their fruits on a karaoke machine in Darren's bedroom in sunny old Brightlingsea, Essex.
Dave decided he wanted to be a drummer so he hustled himself a drum kit, whacked on a pair of headphones and started having it. Chris Ainsworth, a schoolmate and friend of Darren and Dave's bought a Bass and started learning how to play that. 'Brown Towel' was born in around the year 2000...and may have been laid to rest in the very same year. Chris was either chucked out or he left..he was weird. Darren and Dave still carried on playing music at their practice room in an industrial unit in Brightlingsea.
In around 2001, another Bass player was recruited in the form of Darren Smith. 'Smithy' is an amazing bassist who influenced Darren and Dave into creating more complex song structures and time changes. Darren left the band in early 2003 in order to concentrate on playing in the now defunct Quartet - an amazing evolving group of musicians from the Colchester area.
In late 2003, Darren and Dave were in search of another bassist so they gave another old school friend a call.. Ciaran Robinson - Fitzsimmons was happy to join them in what came to be known as 'Halo Ego Trip'. We started practicing in a classroom in the school where we all met and moved around a bit before finally we chose a makeshift hut practice room in Clacton, known as Den's Den.
After the demise of the Den (courtesy of Clacton's dumbest criminals) and a few low key gigs, we're now back to almost practicing as regularly as we would like to !
Plans for going into the studio in 2008 are coming together as you read this !
